Heidrun Zwerschke was born on 19th July 1957 in Waldenburg (Saxony). She acquired essential knowledge regarding piano and music theory already at an early stage. She received her decisive musical education from 1972 to 1976 at special classes for music education in Wernigerode, today’s Saxony-Anhalt’s secondary school for music. Here she sang for the radio youth choir Wernigerode and its chamber choir, directed by Friedrich Krell.
After secondary school she studied music and German at the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and worked during her studies as a conductor with a mixed choir as well as a singer in different choirs. Since 1980 she is teacher for music education at the special classes (since 1991 Saxony-Anhalt’s secondary school for music), teaches music history, aural training, counterpoint, piano and organ and is coordinator for the music department. Apart from that she is the permanent répétiteur of the girl’s choir Wernigerode and works intensively with this choir regarding rehearsals and aural training. Based on the practical work with that girls choir and its chamber choir she created numerous arrangements of folk songs which are especially designed for the possibilities of a high class youth choir. |
